What is a Guesthouse?

A guesthouse is a style of accommodation often created by renovating an old house or using a small building. It is different from a traditional Japanese ryokan, which offers private rooms with full service including meals and bedding, and also different from a minpaku (private vacation rental), where guests rent an entire house. A guesthouse is closer in spirit to a youth hostel, where travelers share spaces such as the living room and bathroom, and the highlight is the chance to connect with other guests and the host in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

About Our Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is a small, renovated traditional house with a warm, at-home feel. The toilet, bathroom, and dining area are shared, creating a cozy environment where guests naturally interact. We also provide dinner, breakfast, and lunch boxes, so you can enjoy homemade meals while sharing travel stories at the table. We do not offer the luxury of a ryokan or resort, but we hope to be a place where you can truly relax during your Kumano Kodo journey and enjoy meaningful encounters with people along the way.

※During autumn and winter, daylight fades quickly, and it can grow dark as early as 4:00–5:00 pm depending on the weather. For your safety, please plan your journey on the Kumano Kodo so that you arrive before nightfall.

We are not accepting reservations at this time. Updates will be announced here on our website once booking becomes available. We are currently preparing for our opening in November 2025, and we look forward to welcoming you then.

After walking the Kumano Kodo and feeling the pleasant weariness of the journey, take a moment to relax with a warm, home-cooked meal. We cherish the simple, gentle flavors that soothe away fatigue and restore energy for the day ahead.

Whenever possible, we use locally sourced ingredients, including seasonal vegetables and fruits from the surrounding area.
